Commissioner's Message

Each and every day, around the clock, the men and women of the Department of Public Safety work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all those who live, work and recreate in Westchester County while treating all citizens with respect and dignity in every interaction.

The demands on the police profession continue to grow and more is asked of our member every day.  And every day we rise to the occasion by:
• maintaining  the safety of County parks, roadways, and property
• providing special and expert support to every municipality via our special operations and investigative services divisions
• remaining at the forefront in vigilance against acts of international or domestic terrorism

County Executive Andrew Spano has pledged to do all in his power to keep Westchester County safe and secure.  With his support and the support of the county Board of Legislators, the Department of Public Safety has been given the tools it needs to fulfill the mission.

I am proud to lead the men and women of this Department who keep this County safe and secure.  Truly, they are always "Watching over Westchester."

Thomas Belfiore
Commissioner/Sheriff
