Forensic Investigations Unit

The Westchester County Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory (Forensic Investigations Unit) is accredited by the ANAB ANSI National Accreditation Board to both the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and AR 3125 standard in Forensic Testing.  FIU is accredited to perform forensic testing in the following disciplines:

 

• Crime Scene Investigation

• Firearms

• Digital Evidence

• Latent Prints 

 

The Forensic Investigations Unit is also recognized as a public forensic laboratory under New York State Executive Law.  FIU has provided assistance to federal, state and local agencies including:

 

• Federal Bureau of Investigation

• United States Attorney’s Office

• United States Postal Service

• New York City Police Department

• Local law enforcement agencies throughout Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley
