The PSEF is continuously recruiting those men and women ready to serve their county. The PSEF is very selective and seeks only those individuals who are highly qualified. On average, only one in 10 applicants pass.
To become a member of the PSEF, a person must:
- Be a Citizen of the United States
- Be of good moral character without any felony convictions. (A misdemeanor offense may also bar appointment)
- Be at least 21 years old
- Be in good health and physical condition and able to to perform the duties of a Peace Officer
- Work or live in Westchester County
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- Possess a valid New York State Driver's License
- Possess or be able to qualify for a Pistol Permit
- Complete the Westchester County Department of Public Safety application packet
- Pass a thorough background investigation (as used by County Police)
- Pass interview
- Pass all psychological exams and drug screening tests
- Be willing to subscribe to an oath or affirmation of allegiance for public servants
