Five Chapters

To establish policy and procedures for effective community relations.

To establish policy and procedures for the release of information by the Department to the news media.

To establish policy and procedures for dealing with crime victims and/or witnesses.

To establish policy and procedures for promoting crime prevention.

To establish policy and procedures for the Department’s use of internet-based resources that integrate user-generated content and user participation (“Social Media”) in connection with public relations, community affairs and the dissemination of information by the Department and as an investigative tool. Social Media includes, but is not limited to online platforms where users can create profiles, share information, and socialize with others using a range of technologies, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Usenet Group message or on-line bulletins boards, blogs, wikis, news sites, or other similarly developed formats (“Social Networks”). Social Media does not include intra-Department systems or inter-agency law enforcement information systems which are not open to the public.
